Practice Focus
As an associate with AZW Law, I work with clients to develop and draft suitable estate plans including wills, trusts, healthcare proxies and durable powers of attorney. I also advise on wealth transfer strategies, business succession planning, prenuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements. In addition to estate planning, I have a strong background in business law which will be applied to supplement the estate planning practice at AZW Law.
My interest in estate planning piqued when I had to help my family navigate the complexities of my parents’ testamentary trusts. I realized then that I wanted to help people more directly with important lifecycle planning both for them and their families. To prepare for this, I returned to law school and earned my LL.M. in Estate Planning and Elder Law – which turned out to be a very productive use of my time during the pandemic.
Professional
I joined Sullivan & Worcester LLP as an associate out of law school in 1986. In 1994 I became a partner in the Business Law Department and spent 4 more years with the firm before choosing to take some time at home to raise two sons (one with special needs). I then went in-house, joining the legal departments of SynQor, Inc., in Boxborough, MA, and later, NEC Energy Solutions, Inc. in Westborough, MA.
Outside Interests
I moved to Framingham in 2021 with my partner, Mike Richard. I downsized from my Wayland home after my son Michael moved to Worcester and my son Nat moved to Boston. I continue to enjoy playing my violin, most recently with a number of area community orchestras. In college, I played professionally with the Cincinnati Ballet orchestra and other local groups. I maintain an active yoga practice and am a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. (Widely known among musicians and actors, the Alexander Technique uses verbal instruction and touch to release muscular holding and create ease in body use — very helpful to those who sit in front of computer screens for hours each day!)
